Mom Tudie’s latest track is a beautiful piece of soul and jazz-influenced hip-hop. For ‘Better Days’, the South London-based producer has teamed up with Sidders, who drops some thought-provoking lyrics with inimitable flow. There are few songwriters who can have their track build in intensity via skilful jazz drums, backing vocals and delightful trumpet hooks rather than gritty synths and harsh drum loops, but Mom Tudie manages it. After starting work on the track remotely, he explains that “as soon as I could I jumped on a train down to see [Sidders] in Brighton and we laid it down. Sid oozes energy, happiness and positivity, I think that really comes through in the song.” Keep an ear out for more music from Mom Tudie in 2021. -Dan Peeke
